About me
I've been a part of the Boston College community since 2007. At BC, I've earned my MA in Higher Education Administration, am working on my Ph.D. in Comparative Theology and have served in a number of professional and volunteer capacities. I've discovered a love for Jesuit education, feel strongly that every student, colleague, parent, and friend of the University is integral to its mission and try to combine my scholarly expertise in interreligious dialogue with a practical aptitude for administrative leadership and a knack for teaching.
My academic expertise is in Christian-Jewish comparative theology and interreligious dialogue. I can teach courses in this field and in Catholic theology, as well as a broad range of theological topics, including world religions, women in religions, biblical interpretation, and comparative ethics and social justice. My dissertation focuses on the personal experiences of friendship between Christian and Jewish scholars as a way of showing the potential personal and communal transformation and ethical implications of coming to know the "other" as friend.
I've worked extensively in student affairs, especially in student formation and advocacy. I have both small- and large-scale programming experience planning academic conferences and research symposia, retreats, orientation, commencement and social events. I've coordinated professional development workshops and internship programs. I view higher education as an integrated whole and believe educational institutions function best when different divisions work collaboratively. Based on my varied experiences, I've cultivated a niche role as a person that can move seamlessly between the academic, student affairs and mission functions of an institution.
I'm originally from Reading, PA, but now live outside of Boston with my husband, Colin, and deliciously active toddler, Lilly. I enjoy reading food and home design blogs and following current events via social media. I'm a runner and occasional boxer. I'm proud to be a Providence College Friar.
